About This Game

In the distant future, the coming of a technological Golden-age brings reality to humanity’s dream of reaching out to other planets. Corporate exploration probes swarm the depths of space, seeking out resource-rich worlds to colonize and exploit. But even in the vastness of space, and true to human nature, disputes over colonization rights soon emerge. Great corporate war-fleets gather, ready to defend their claims. The Earth Federation, humanity’s central government, devises a contest called “Missile War” to prevent a descent into total war. In “Missile War” two rival corporations establish a base on the contested planet’s surface, harvest its resources, and engage in an isolated missile duel. Trade of harvested minerals is permitted, but interference by other corporations is not. The winner, the last corporation standing, is given full rights to the colony, and is taxed by the Earth Federation. Everybody wins; or do they?

Direct Hit: Missile War offers a deep strategic experience to those weary of the never ending stream of Command and Conquer clones that dominate the real-time strategy market. While tipping its hat to console classics such as Megalomania, Direct Hit brings many fresh ideas to the table, in particular: separate player maps, and the replacement of classic RTS units by customizable missiles. Set in a Golden-age of planetary colonization, players must battle for mining rights to resource-rich planets by competing in explosive duels called Missile Wars. To win a missile war, players have to build, scan for and mine resources, trade, research, and of course, design the means of their enemies’ destruction: missiles!

Features:

The game is a mix of genres:
- Unique strategy gameplay system
- Classic RTS

- 7 stages (14 missions)
- 5 tech levels (over 60 technologies)
- Over 30 types of missile parts. a09c17d780

Direct Hit: Missile War is one of the Best Si-Fi RTS Game.
If you are looking for a good Si-Fi RTS game and want to see somthing diffrent from other RTS...then Direct Hit: Missile War is best one.
Future Tech Buildings and diffrent Missile Technology feel us diffrent experience.
We can Play campaing with two diffrent Opponent if we wan to play with Easy difficulty then we may go for easy opponent and if we want to play Hard then go for a another opponent with High or Medium Difficulty at the starting.
OR we may go for easy at starting to get unlocked some Advanced Missile Tech then you may go for High or Medium Difficult opponent.--- so the Stratagy is depend on you.

Over all.... I setsfy with this game.
I also shared some screen shot of this game for Public on my steam.
. Interesting, kinda fun, rough around the edges, and with some instances of charmingly broken english that made me think of playing old import games from when I was a young kid.

Apparently the devs are newish - which makes me feel like this is absolutely a game worth buying to see what they do next. (Hopefully hire a translator and get some GUI assistance in!)

Basically? This game is the boardgame 'Battleship' with a little city builder mixed in. Hurl missiles at the enemy's map while defending your own side, while building factories and mines to produce more missiles. Not the most amazing game out there, but certainly a different one, and totally worth the cheap and cheerful price.

(PS: Similar in concept to Metal Marines, but a very different feel.). Very disappointing, even at the price as it's so close to being at least decent but the UI quirks and design decisions really add up to something subpar.

And the premise looks so good at first: a combination of the SNES game Metal Marines with the missile and mining focus of Fragile Allegiance, two great tastes that should go great together but just falls short of those expectations. Like Metal Marines, you play on your own little square of the world and your opponent settles on another, and you attack each other by launching surgical strikes, and like Fragile Allegiance, you make most of your cash and weapons through the refining of minerals. It's not quite as in-depth as either, but on paper it at least seems like it SHOULD be an interesting streamlining of those two games.

But it isn't. In Fragile Allegiance, complicated though it was, at least had more interesting decisions: resources were limited and prone to boom and bust cycles when sold on the open or black market, so you really did have to question whether it was worth making a mega-missile or selling the ore and allocating those funds someplace else. When an asteroid went dry, would you keep it as a population center for passive income? A heavily-defended storage facility to funnel all your materials into? A giant industrial complex that shipped in things from elsewhere and put out fleets and nukes? Or would you just strap a giant engine on it and ram it into a rival corp's colony?

In Direct Hit, there's none of that. You just make missiles, launch recon warheads to find what you're looking for, and then slam more damaging rockets into them. I would've loved to have seen if the full tech tree offered anything more interesting, but for whatever reason there's no customizable skirmish mode whatsoever for you to play with and see everything right off the bat.

Not that I would've had the patience to stick with it anyway because of the ridiculous interface and design decisions Polynetix has made. For one thing, buildings can't be rotated at all. In most games this wouldn't be a problem but every structure has one or more power-connection points that need to be attached to your settlement's power grid. If you want to set up your windmill farms vertically then too bad. You also can't click and drag when placing buildings, each must be placed with an individual click. Constructed builds can be demolished but not moved, which immediately becomes a pain since you start every map by having to place your dropship, but you can set it down and end up covering a convenient patch of ore; all of a sudden a field of handy metallium becomes unobtainium because you've inadvertently blocked your own access to it. It would've been such an easy fix to just make the dropship a kind of do-it-all building (which it already sort of is since it handles trade and provides some power) that can maybe mine at a slower rate than refineries, but they didn't think to do that.

The research is really nothing special and has a pretty silly tier to it where building your first lab unlocks military tech, but you need a second one to research economics. Why not just let me choose either one right off the bat and then I can make the decision to make another lab if I want to speed things up? I don't even get a new, different-looking econ lab to make things more interesting. Though, that's probably appropriate since seemingly all the econ techs are just boring "you now do this plus whatever percent better" rather than anything cool. There's also no easily-glanced-at percentage bar on the main screen to show how far along your research has progressed, you have to look into the science menu every time.

And the combat system itself might've been passable but, once again, the UI cripples it. The way it works is you have access to two kinds of silos: AMLs, which shoot down incoming missiles, and CMLs, which launch them at your opponent. Whenever an enemy launches something at you, the garbled, barely-intelligible robot announcer lets you know, and you then have to click on the radar menu and then on any of the available AML missile buttons to launch them at the incoming rockets. There's no automation; you can't just stock up on interceptors and tell the computer how many missiles you want to launch at each incoming attack, you HAVE to micromanage. I can only imagine how irritating this would get in the later missions against a more tenacious AI.

Attacking isn't so hot either: you make the missiles in a factory, and they're equally distributed to each CML. I never figured out how to shift inventories between different silos as they can each hold up to like ten missiles, and once a rocket's been prepped for launch, you CANNOT switch them out for another until it's been fired. But most egregious of all with this is that you load rockets and set their targets on the same menu... but despite there being a giant "MISSILE READY" button on the bottom right of the screen, you DON'T click that to launch it. Instead, you have to click to another tab in the radar/rocket menu and launch it from there. Keeping in mind this same screen contains a list of every rocket you launch, which would be fine were it not for the fact that the list DOESN'T SCROLL AT ALL, forcing you to manually click on every previously shot rocket since your ready-to-launch ones are near the bottom of the list, which causes the screen to switch over to the opponent's view and forces you to go back to the rocket menu and clear the other past launches one by one. You can't even right-click to dismiss them without snapping your view to the impact site. It's like a window back to 1997 strategy-sim gaming, only even games like Fragile Allegiance and MoO2 had some elegance to their controls despite being far more complex.

It almost could've been something sorta-simple-yet-decent, an alright super-budget title to waste an afternoon or two on, but it just ends up being a dud thanks to several design screwups. Not recommended.. The game's pace of the AI is a real problem.

Any development on future content / updates are abandoned.

Overall found the game lacking in fulfilment.. what a let down. the best thing about this game was uninstalling it. While this game is conceptually sound, and can be fun and interesting to play, I would note the following:

Some of the gameplay at higher levels becomes rote, and repetitivly in "How much can I spam anti-missile launchers while spamming missile components.

Further, some of the later game sessions can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours.

This is however, rendered devastatingly into a massive failure by the games current intensive inclination towards crashing when complex actions occur, as well as the comically bugged save load feature. If you want to reach higher levels in this game, be prepared to waste two hours of your life, or 45 minutes of your life if the game neither A) Crashes/hangs on Saving or B) Crashes/hangs on loading.

If you do play it, I would recommend you avoid clicking too fast on the missile launchers (The game crash which I finally gave up on at level 6), and in general concentrating on AMLs. Also, DO NOT ATTACK BATTERIES. It would appear that event handling in this program cannot handle the checkstates induced from a large battery farm losing access to its substation at once. This extends to wind farms as well. Leave them alone, and simply focus on surgically strike the dropship and outposts. You really don't even need nukes to win at higher levels. This is the achilles heel of this game: Many of the higher level technologies, while great, are unnecessary. Once you get chaff and ECM, there is no real point at mounting higher missle casings unless you just want overkill. Just focus early on AMLs and economy, spam recon at 45 minutes, and then start taking down Radars > Outposts > Dropship

All this taken into consideration, for its price, concept, and some of the innovative fun, I would recommend it. Hopefully in a few months someone will patch the coding that appears to be rather lousy in certain sections.

The sad part is that they charge you for this piece of garbage.
I used my steam wallet money to buy this just to be presented with 3 crashes and 20 or so minutes of gameplay.
♥♥♥♥ this developer and ♥♥♥♥ this piece of utter♥♥♥♥♥♥engine.. At the moment i find it to much slow moving! There is lot of irretating sounds like constants heartsbeats! The grafic of the opposites figures is look like ghosts in suits (simpel)! In the short time of trying to kill this monsters there was not much to see if they were hit by firing on them! And then after a little long time they die like they were fainting/pass out in a strange way of falling! But the grafic part looking acceptable... So far what i pay it was not yet a bad game to play! So i hope it gonig all much better than what i have said!. This is as bad as of game as you'll ever see on Steam made with the worlds worst game engine Game Guru.

I gave it a 1% score using my own scoring system I use for all Steam games first impressions scores. But hey have a look for yourself and I dare you to want to buy this after seeing it yourself:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n-bKBjTHbk&lc=z23qidywnuioezpm2acdp433wpejowlqlokl2b5ubkpw03c010c&spfreload=1

. All of the enemy models have the same generic 'rarrrr!' sound effect & either only the first enemy has any patrol path programmed or the only reason it attack me through the closed door is because it is positioned so close to the door that I was within its hitbox OR none of the enemy models have any patrol path programmed at all, they all just stand in place and do their limited animation over and over; all our GameGuru friends are here, weird alien with arms up over the shoulders withs their elbows flopping down and either vibrating because the animation is too fast or because they are colliding with the terrain, grey alien who has Hellraiser syndrome, black alien/insect thing with scythes coming out the back and they are mostly facing away from the linear path and because they have no movement programmed they won't turn to face you.

I was convinced that the game had somehow spawned me at the end and I was going through the path backwards because so few of the enemy models were facing me...this is really stunningly low effort, there have been some really shoddy GameGuru releases in the past but it has definitely gotten worse, this isn't even funny in its lack of gameplay like Lost Base Escape or confusing in what seemed like its attempt to have gameplay like Slingshot People.. This game is a♥♥♥♥♥♥piece of shovelware I only bought this game for a video, for the worst possible games on steam. Game of the year??? Very re-playable as it is only 3 minutes long. Probably one of the best games to come out in the past century.. just as the title suggested, there was some hot 69 action on mars

I have now finally made a review for this game, and at the same time i can now delete it from my hard drive. This game used to be really good and I loved it to death. What happened to it in these past years I don't understand.

In the past, around 9 years ago to be exact, I downloaded this game and instantly fell in love with it. After a few years of casual play I joined the 29th Infratry Division for a more hardcore experience. I met a lot of people and was welcomed into a good community and my squad, BP2S2 a.k.a the Musical Devils. The hundreds of weekly drills I've been in were for the most part a lot of fun. My squad leader was one of the best and my squad mates weren't any worse. Everyone was very supportive of each other and many would stick around after the drills to play other games or just hang around and talk about stuff.

Then comes the big update that adds a lot of unneeded stuff such as squads, rally points and the game becomes a clunkier version of Squad. That is when everything broke and that is what was the end for Baker. A lot of people didn't like the direction the game was going and DH lost it's biggest community. I was transferred to Able, which played RO2, but it wasn't the same.

I've had the game in my steam library installed since the day the 29th left DH. I fired it up today and the game was nothing like the old days. That DH magic was gone, and I was thrown into a battlefield with a SL that didn't put rally points and a 2km walk to the front. DH doesn't need SL's, or rally points, it was perfect as it was. A lot of the Combined Arms maps are too big and for some unknown reason all chat is disabled (????), which was one of the best parts of pubbing.

A new community has risen to play the "new" DH and most of them will never experience the real DH, which is a shame. But things went as they went and all that's left is this wannabe Squad copy.

Hope you enjoyed this review. forgive the spelling errors, I'm slightly drunk.

Rest In Peace DH.

BP2S2 Forever.

Call of the Starseed continues to blow me away - one of *the* most immersive narrative experiences you can possibly find. Staggering achievement.. The whole experience is literally going through a beach and a sewer. After that the story has barely started to begin and they just roll the end credits. The fact that this was one of the first VR games also shows as the movement is a bit clunky at best.

Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone is out now!:
Developing Heart of the Emberstone has been an remarkable journey. This is a VR game that is really unlike anything else in the medium right now. It's a full-fledged story-driven puzzle/adventure game that takes place on a beautiful fantasy planet, built from the ground up to make full use of virtual reality.

Narratively, this is a second episode, but in terms of gameplay, scope, and production, the sheer increase in quality and features makes Episode 2 closer to a sequel. An "epi-sequel" if you will.

Heart of the Emberstone picks up exactly where Call of the Starseed left off, so if you've been holding off on playing the first episode, now's the perfect time to play them both back-to-back. You even get a 10% discount if you pick up both episodes right now.

For those who already own Call of the Starseed, you'll also receive a 10% discount on Episode 2 when using the "Complete the Bundle" option on the store page.

Heart of the Emberstone is a long time in the making, and we've been endlessly grateful for the support and passion from our fans over the last year and a half.

We're incredibly excited to finally be able to say:

It's time to see the other side of the Starseed.

http://store.steampowered.com/app/526140/The_Gallery__Episode_2_Heart_of_the_Emberstone/. Well, that was quite the secret to keep...:
Call of the Starseed is now included with every HTC Vive purchase, along with Tilt Brush and Zombie Training Simulator. That means everyone who buys a new Vive will get Call of the Starseed bundled for free, and our adventure will be many players’ first step into virtual reality.

Needless to say, this is an incredible honour. This dream of Virtual Reality has consumed our lives for the better half of five years, and now here we are, the Duck Hunt of VR. This is an enormous milestone for our team, essentially guaranteeing that every future Vive owner (while supplies last™) will get to play the game that we’ve poured our hearts and lives into.

It means that our head-first dive into the murky waters of an unknown tech has found fruition. There’s no bigger validation than knowing that the remarkable people at HTC, Vive, and Valve—the developers and innovators who have shaped our passions and our careers—want to show us off. And to be included with the wonderful people at Acceleroto and Google is simply humbling.

But it’s not just HTC to thank. It’s the incredible reception we’ve received since launch from players like you that’s kept us on the map. We get notifications in the studio every time a Steam review comes in, and we read each one.

Sometimes we get just these strings of positive responses saying things like Call of the Starseed is the “best experience I’ve ever had in a game, with any device.”

Here are some of the most touching reviews we've received:

It’s been six months since we launched Call of the Starseed, and with new ports and platforms right on the horizon, it’s time to adjust our price. For our fellow Canadians, we know our dollar is in the hole, but we’re an optimistic bunch; we’ll be bringing the price in the Canadian store down to $19.99 as well. Keep your ears warm through the winter, you hosers.

We hope all you new Vive owners have been enjoying your content bundle, and we hope this new price allows those of you yet to experience The Gallery a chance to join us on our adventure.

    -Cloudhead Games. Welcome Oculus Touch!:
Call of the Starseed now officially supports the new Oculus Touch controllers. When you launch the game next, you’ll be able to choose between the OpenVR and OVR runtimes, the former being intended for Vive players and the latter for Oculus Touch users.

The OVR version of Call of the Starseed also features a number of bug fixes, as well as our new Hand Presence update with new hand poses, inclusivity options, Blink features, and more. Call of the Starseed with Oculus Touch supports standing 180, limited 360, and roomscale playmodes. If you have your sensors set up to support Oculus roomscale, you’ll be able to play Call of the Starseed just as you would with the Vive. If you don’t, we’ve added a few new features to make the game more comfortable for forward-facing mode as well, such as a new force grab and frustum fade.

As well as the new Oculus Touch support, developers and businesses will also notice a new arcade licensing option to bring our mind-blowing first episode of The Gallery to VR Arcades.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be continuing support by adding haptic feedback and additional Touch controller hand poses for OVR, plus we’ll be bringing the Hand Presence Update and new features to OpenVR for Vive owners. If you come across any bugs while playing in the meantime, please submit a report using our online form. You can find our full changelog and notes below.

    Adventure awaits!

NOTE: Added notification on title screen to notify users without any sound to switch audio playback to "Rift Audio" in Windows.. It's awards season! We won Best Narrative and more nominations.:
For those who missed the news, Call of the Starseed won Best VR Narrative Experience at this year’s Proto Awards—the closest thing the VR industry has to an Oscars ceremony. We’ve been honoured enough to have won an award every year since its inception in 2014; first for Best Sound Design, and then for Most Transportive Experience last year.

This year, we were nominated for two Proto awards: Best Game, and Best Narrative Experience. For Best Narrative, we were up against some of the best-told stories in VR, including Google Spotlight Stories’ touching film Pearl. On top of that, we were the only game to be nominated for the Narrative award (the other nominees were films and passive experiences), an absolute honour in and of itself. While Space Pirate Trainer deservedly took home Best Game, we were proud to have won an award so dear to us as a narrative-driven experience.

We’ve also been nominated for a 2016 TIGA award—one of the biggest videogame awards to come out of Europe. There, we’re in the running for Best Debut Game, as well as Audience Choice Game of the Year which you can vote for over on the TIGA website[tiga.org]. Voting closes on October 31, so go quick!

Lastly but not leastly, Call of the Starseed is a finalist for nine, count ‘em NINE, Canadian Video Game Awards across a whole whack of categories, including Best Game Innovation and Game of the Year. It’s been an amazing six months since launch, and to be recognized by both our VR peers and our countrypeople is an unbelievable honour. Thank you to everyone who’s supported us along the way.

You can check out Denny’s Proto Awards acceptance speech over on Youtube; and don’t forget you can vote for us as your Game of the Year on the TIGA website[tiga.org], or as your favourite Canadian-made game on the CVA website too[www.cvawards.ca]. We’d do it ourselves, but we’re only allowed one vote. :steamhappy:

Love, Cloudhead Games. The Gallery Episode 2 Will Release In September:
The Gallery - Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone will release this September.

That’s 3 months from now, or the videogame equivalent of a third trimester—but I’ve been advised not to take the pregnancy metaphor further. Or use at it all. Shit.

The good news is that we’ve got a big beautiful project in the oven. Heart of the Emberstone is a much larger experience than Episode 1—in both playtime and scope—even larger than we expected. This new date will allow us to add in all sorts of extra details to really flesh out the world the way we want to. Heart of the Emberstone is a story-driven, non-linear adventure game built for roomscale VR. There’s not a whole ton of those out there right now, so we’re taking the opportunity to do it right the first time.

If you already own Call of the Starseed, and haven’t yet played it, we’re going to have to sit you down and give you “The Talk.” If you don’t have Call of the Starseed (or you’re just a very generous friend), we can neither confirm nor deny that Starseed will be at a significant sale price during a sale that may or may not be related to summer. I don’t have a PHD in statistics, but we have an 87% positive rating here on Steam, which means there’s a decent to good chance you’ll enjoy the game. Plus, you get our original soundtrack, composed by Skyrim’s Jeremy Soule, for free.

If you have played the first episode, we’d love to give away a couple keys for Emberstone when it releases this September to some of our fans. Just comment your favourite moment playing The Gallery and we’ll send a message to our favourite commentor at the end of the day. We’ll also give you an extra Starseed key to gift to a friend or trade for the hide of a rare Scandinavian leopord.

Without the support of our fans and the Steam community, we’d never be able to make the kind of ambitious project that Heart of the Emberstone is. We’ve received a ton of love and support here on our Steam forums in the multitude of “where is Episode 2” threads, and we’re pumped to finally confirm that it’s coming. For real. This September.

Thank you for sticking with us through this adventure. It’s going to be freaking rad.

About This Game

Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE is a virtual reality action shooter, a glorious throwback to the golden age of first-person shooters where men were men, cover was for amateurs and pulling the trigger made things go boom.

Serving as a prequel to the original indie and Game of the Year sensation, Serious Sam: The First Encounter, Serious Sam 3 VR: BFE takes place during the Earth’s final struggle against Mental’s invading legions of beasts and mercenaries.

Key Features

  • Now available in glorious VR! - "basically the same game but the devs just ticked a magical checkbox for VR"
  • Serious Sam Fusion 2017 integration - play cross-platform with players of the pancake version to find out what's the ultimate combo: hi-tech motion controllers or good old keyboard & mouse
  • True locomotion support - teleport, instant teleport, blink teleport, classic full locomotion (with or without comfort mode).
  • Dual-wield the Destructive Arsenal – A scoped assault rifle or a double-barreled shotgun? Automatic shotgun or the punishing minigun? Why not use both!? Unleash the almighty barrage of flaming cannonballs!
  • Frantic Arcade-Style Action – Hold down the trigger and lay waste to a never-ending onslaught of attackers or face being overrun by Mental’s savage beasts. No cover systems, no camping – it’s just you against them. All of them!
  • Steam Workshop – Submit your content creation or download new player-created content and modifications using Serious Sam Fusion 2017
  • Multiplayer – Fight against each other or other teams in various multiplayer versus modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Last Man Standing, Last Team Standing and Instant Kill. Or, you know, play nice and game together in Standard Co-Op, Classic Co-Op and Coin-Op Co-Op. Op op!

It's discount Doom with snarky commentary :)

I got this on sale as part of a bundle package, and among all of the Serious Sam VR options, this one is the best looking. It's not the most engaging story, but who cares? There's no shortage of monsters to mow down nor weapons with which to do so. Playing on "normal" difficulty nets you a reasonably fun romp through various environments with an assortment of shooting galleries.

If it's on sale, it's worth a buy, a good time-killer for some seated play while taking a break from playing Skyrim VR standing for hours at a time.. 30 yo software dev here. last played serious sam in my teens. Last night i punched my girlfriend in the face trying to sledgehammer an AAAHHHH suicide bomber. She will be out of the house by noon so more play area for 2 handed badassery.
15/10 would punch her again. buy it!. This makes a joke of games that were "Made from VR from the ground up". It turns out the best VR game out there is a conversion. It works very well and (unlike made for VR games) is full length.

Having 2 weapons in hand feels awesome but makes it a bit easier. Even 2 pistols do a lot of damage. No problem though, just increase the difficulty level a bit.

I was using dash teleport and there were occasional comprmises such as no jetpack to fight the final boss. I haven't tried locomation yet to see if it reappears but even if it doesn't don't let that put your off. This is what VR is all about.. Pretty good in VR!. Same Game just in VR, perfect. I was a bit concernd if i get motion sickness while gameplay is really fast and i like locomotion. But i could get used to it quite quick and experience it just a little bit while palying 2-3 hours in a row.
Graphics a great, sound too and gameplay yeah ...running backwards holding one gun forward the other backwards, thats weird and funny :D. Arena style chaos and mayhem... its a fast paced, run and gun brawl that I did not find fun in the least.
